Episode Overview

General Thomas Picton, the Governor of Trinidad, is charged with permitting the torture of a young mixed-race girl. In taking on the case, Garrow is determined to reveal the injustices embedded in the colonial system. However, he is confronted with a moral quandary when Melville presents him with a deal: if Garrow agrees to scale back his prosecution, the lord will leverage his power to help reunite Lady Sarah with her son.
