Episode Overview

In the debut of Survivor's Open Era, sixteen strangers are stranded in the wilds of Fiji, all chasing a $1 million prize. The season's motto, "permanent uncertainty," hits immediately: no sooner do they hit the beach than one castaway is forced to depart on a cryptic journey. Later, the first Tribal Council turns two close allies into bitter rivals, each refusing to back down in a tense showdown of nerve and strategy.
